SLR Premium BCG 5.56 - Black Nitride
Carrier Assembly: The enhanced bolt carrier is designed to reduce carrier tilt/cant during recoil and increasing reliability by strategically relocating key bearing surfaces.
Material: Case-hardened 8620 steel (complete care is taken during the heat treat process, so as to not harm the metal)
Finish: Black Nitride
Gas Key: 4130 Steel, attached with Grade 8 hardware, torqued and properly staked into a milled “valley” around a fully encased ejection port area, for added strength and rigidity.
Cam Pin: Hardened 4340 cam pin.
Firing Pin: Mil Spec firing pin made of 8740 steel, center-less ground and Hard Chrome coated.
Bolt Assembly: The Bolt is “true” Mil Spec dimension and external surfaces are CNC ground after heat treat for a precision fit. These bolts are held to the highest possible tolerance possible. The “trumpet” area behind the gas rings, where carbon normally collects, is precision CNC Ground after heat treatment, to ensure as smooth of an area as possible, easing clean up, and longevity.
Material: 9310 Case Hardened Steel
Finish: All Bolt components Shot Peened & Nitride Finish
Extractor: 4340 Steel, Nitride Finish
Magnetic Particle Inspected (MPI) and High Pressure Tested (HPT)
Mil Spec Extractor Spring & O-Ring
Lugs are machined with the proper radius as per true mil-spec tolerances. Independent HP white proof testing exceeded over 90,000 PSI without failure.
Outer diameter machined to all critical surfaces within +/- .0005 inches.
Rounded cam pin rides in a fully chamfered cam path.
Gas key with rounded leading edges insures positive functioning in all makes and grades of uppers and buffer tube combinations.
Properly staked and torqued grade 8 hex screws as per the true mil-spec.
Carrier body OD and ID are hard turned after heat treat to +/- .0005 inches
I have just about 300 rounds on this BCG and it has worked flawlessly. I've ran both steel cased and brass without any issues. Additionally, it functioned well suppressed and unsuppressed on a mid length 13.9 barrel. The finish is absolutely amazing. It looks like black glass and is very slick.
Received my BCG and wasn't able to use for over a month due to life happening. When I finally was able to go shoot it seemed as the the bolt in the carrier was a little tight. I contacted SLR and spoke with Todd (awesome man and beyond helpful). He asked a couple questions and all I was curious about was if there was a break in time for the bolt. Without me asking I received a new BCG and sent the old one back. Quality was 6 out of 5 stars on both but I think the first was a little too tight on tolerances. The new BCG has functioned flawlessly eating all quality off ammo and the finish still looks new. I truly cannot say enough good things about not only SLR quality but as far as I'm concerned the best customer service in the business. Always willing to answer questions at almost any time.

This review is in part for the SLR Premium BCG with DLC coating, but mainly for the incredible SLR customer service. I recently purchased a SLR Premium BCG in DLC and upon its arrival, I observed that there was some issues with the DLC coating in multiple locations. I thought this strange as it does not meet the high quality SLR is known for and shown in previous products I have purchased from them. I promptly sent an email regarding the issue with DLC coating on the BCG and got a response within an hour or two.....on a Saturday! Todd with SLR was incredible on staying on this and personally called me that Monday regarding the issue with the coating. The SLR Premium BCG is a solid BCG and I highly recommend it once the issue with the distributor regarding the DLC is squared away, or grab yourself the TiN Gold version which I would have done had it not be the need for a black BCG for the specific build I am in the middle of. Needless to say SLR refunded my money and sent me a shipping label to have the BCG with the defective coating shipped back. INCREDIBLE COMPANY. I CANNOT RECOMMEND SLR ENOUGH!!!! I will be picking up the TiN version of this BCG for my next build for sure.
