Makes Dimpling Extremely Easy and Accurate

A great tool, very easy to use and accurate. You do have to be careful that you're tightening the alignment set screw into the gas port and not a random spot on the barrel, but that's all it takes to get perfect alignment. Once it's aligned and tightened, it's very secure on the barrel. The drill guide screw does seem to be hardened a bit, I didn't notice it getting chewed up from the drill bit, so it should last for multiple uses. The only thing I would have preferred is that it come with the appropriate drill bit. Overall a great item, and I was able to install the gas block on my nitrided barrel perfectly.

    .625 dimple jig

This jig worked great. It was my first time building a full rifle and with the help of this jig it went great.

    Works perfectly

Works perfectly. My only complaint is that the bit cuts through the hard nitride coating of a barrel so easily, its a bit difficult to judge depth of the dimples, even with a drill press. Would be nice if there were some way to gauge depth on the bit. Maybe a tiny colored rubber band? Ideally a specialized bit that is only fluted at the tip and has a mark or clamp on stop ring? Like the end mills supplied by Polymer 80.

    Excellent quality!

What can I say.. it's an SLR product. There really isn't much better in the AR world. I love everything I've ever bought from them and these dimpling jigs are no exception. Very useful and easy to dimple with. Don't be a noob and have your gas block wander forward when you need your rifle to function the most. Single shot rifles aren't much fun when you need semi!

    .625 Dimpling Jig

I had machined my own simple jig in .936, but needed one in .750, so I bought the whole SLR jig set. These jigs are very well designed and made, and are worth their price. They are easy to use, and will pay for themselves. I highly recommend these jigs for anyone who builds more that two uppers a month. Well worth the money.

    .625 Dimpling Jig

This review is for the SLR .625 Barrel Dimpling Jig. This is the second jig I’ve purchased from SLR. I also purchased a .750 Dimpling Tool earlier this summer which came in a really cool orange anodized finish but we don’t buy these tools for their looks, we buy them for results. I’ve tried green Genies, orange aligners, other dimpling products and even strands of spaghetti trying hard to align the gas block to that hidden gas port with precision. None of them worked as well or as precise as the SLR Dimpling tool. I can mount the jig, drill the dimples and secure the gas port to the barrel in less than 30 minutes and that’s taking my time and enjoying the process. I remember the trepidation I had when I dimpled my first few barrels prior to finding this tool. I don’t think twice about it now and even go back to dimple the barrels of my older AR builds. I’ve used these jigs about a dozen times this summer and I love the results. I’m definitely not a pro…but I am a retired Law Enforcement Officer, Armorer and Firearms Instructor and I give a big thumbs up to the SLR Dimpling Jigs.

Awesome product. I'm building a 16" Dissipator and not only was I able to dimple my barrel for the low-pro gas block with ease, I was also able to use the jig to dimple the barrel for the faux front site tower's set screw. Worked like a charm! Thanks again!
